Getting to know Avonlea

Avonlea is actually a made up community by Lucy Maud Montgomery. Even though Avonlea is fictitious, Prince Edward Island is not, where Avonlea is "located".
Prince Edward Island is on the East Coast of Canada, where I live.
If you watch the Anne of Green Gables or Road to Avonlea TVseries, the Avonlea community and countryside looks a lot like PEI, even though most of the scenes are shot in Ontario. In my opinion, I find that Avonlea looks a lot like Brackley Beach and like some parts of New Glasgow, PEI.
The beaches, of course, are filmed here, Cavendish Beach is used quite often in the series and the North Rustico Harbor is seen as well. In the Road to Avonlea tv series, more of the rural country side is shown, and it really does look like my home, PEI! The clay roads in the series are (painted) red, to have that "Prince Edward Island effect/look".

The winters shown in Avonlea do look like the winters here on PEI, especially the snow storm scenes! But the summer scenes are absolutely stunning. In the bottom picture shown, doesn't that look just like Avonlea?? Kevin Sullivan did a great job in finding the perfect "Prince Edward Island" in Ontario.
