And that, kids, is why you always take swimming lessons.

by: Alec King

"Of course it is winter now, and the ponds are frozen, but lets take some time to talk about some safety in or around water. First of all, we need water. God created water to keep ourselves hydrated, to clean ourselves with, to irrigate our crops with, etc. Swimming in water can be lots of fun, too, but there are some precautions to take whenever you go out into the ocean or a pond.

1.)Knowing how to swim is very important!! If you can't, well, there's a big chance you could drown.
Like in this photo for example, you might just fall out of a boat and end up soaking wet, sputtering, and if you can't swim, drown. Please, before you go out and have some fun in the sun be sure you know how to swim!!
2.) If there's thunder and lightning, get out of the water immediately!!! Lightning is attracted to water and will most likely strike. It will automatically strike you, too, if you don't get out of the water.

3.) Don't play rough with your friends in the water. For example, don't push their heads underwater to see how long they can hold their breath, boys!!

4.) Never dive into shallow water. If you do, you'll break your neck!! Always go feet first because you'll be touching any under surfaced objects with your feet, and not with your head.

5.) Always play it safe, it's better to be safe than sorry!"

  1. The first picture reminds me when my character Emma and Elaine, from my book Kindred Spirits, fall into the water because Elaine stood up reading a romantic book. ;)

    Keep posting, Deborah!!
